MODERN MUSIC SCHOOL FAQ
In more than 30 years in the music school business we have accompanied many franchise partners on their way to their own companies and know exactly what we have to do. But for every new franchisee the path to self-employment begins with a Modern Music School – a big step. And anyone who wants to take this step has many questions. We have summarized the most frequently asked questions and answers in our FAQ. For more detailed, individual or further information, please contact us personally.
Your start into self-employment
We look forward to getting to know you!
1. WHAT DISTINGUISHES A FRANCHISEE FROM OTHER FOUNDERS?
Franchisees are entrepreneurs who do not start their own business with their own concept but with the business model of a franchisor.
From a legal point of view, they belong to the group of self-employed just like other founders. We therefore also speak of our franchisees as franchise partners. For us, it is a (business) relationship at eye level in which each partner concentrates on his or her strengths. As independent entrepreneurs, the franchise partners also bear the economic risk of founding a business.
2. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF FRANCHISING COMPARED TO SETTING UP WITHOUT A FRANCHISOR?
If you set up your own music school as our franchise partner, you will first benefit from using an already established and strong brand with an existing network. In addition, franchisees have greater planning security. Based on our experience from three decades at Modern Music School, we can tell our franchise partners exactly what to expect. This usually also means a faster start into self-employment and a lower start-up risk. In addition, there is a relieving division of labor. Franchisors and franchisees can concentrate on their strengths and make use of them. In addition, the Modern Music School offers a diverse qualification program for its franchise partners. We are always available to advise our franchisees. Our controlling serves to ensure the success of each individual location. Franchisees may exclusively use the Modern Music School brand, including corporate identity and corporate design, in their contract territory. They benefit from the international reputation and market position of the company right from the start. Each advertising campaign of the head office or any franchise partner builds the brand further and strengthens the network as a whole. All this offers the best conditions for a competitive advantage. You can find out more about the advantages of Modern Music School franchising under Services.
3. HOW MUCH FREEDOM DO THE FRANCHISEES OF A MODERN MUSIC SCHOOL HAVE?
Franchisees of a Modern Music School location are fully responsible entrepreneurs. Our franchisees don’t have to worry about marketing, design, negotiating the best conditions with the dealers for the instruments, teaching and learning material and much more – but can nevertheless adapt some things individually to their location – e.g. each location has its own website. Our franchise model combines the advantages of independence and planning security. By the way: The Modern Music School franchise is internationally oriented. For our franchise partners, this means even greater freedom in the choice of location.
4. WHAT SEED CAPITAL MUST A FRANCHISEE BRING IN AND WHICH RUNNING COSTS ARISE?
This is an important topic that we prefer to discuss with our potential franchise partners individually and personally in detail. Simply contact us via the contact form. Once your own music school has opened, you pay a monthly franchise fee for our franchise services which is calculated as a percentage of your sales. There is no additional advertising fee to be paid. Thus your franchise costs always remain easily calculable.
5. IS IT POSSIBLE TO TRANSFER AN EXISTING PRIVATE MUSIC SCHOOL INTO THE MODERN MUSIC SCHOOL CONCEPT OR TO EXPAND IT WITH THE MODERN MUSIC SCHOOL OFFER?
That depends. We do have franchisees who have previously given private music lessons or run another music school. But to answer this question, we need more details. We would be happy to clarify your possibilities and ideas in a personal conversation.
6. IS IT POSSIBLE TO ESTABLISH A FRANCHISE MUSIC SCHOOL IN ADDITION TO PROFESSION?
Many of our franchisees were still employed during the founding phase of their own company. As a rule, it takes about two years for running a modern music school to become a lucrative full-time job. However, one should not underestimate the time required to successfully start a music school.
7. DOES A MODERN MUSIC SCHOOL FRANCHISEE HAVE TO BE A MUSICIAN?
Many of our Modern Music School franchisees are professional musicians and also teach. It can be an advantage but it is not a prerequisite to start your own music school. The more students a Modern Music School has, the less time the school managers have to teach. More important are therefore other skills such as business management and / or commercial knowledge, entrepreneurial and service-oriented thinking and acting, enjoyment in dealing with a wide variety of people and of course the willingness to take risks that goes with every company foundation.
8. WHEN IS IT NOT POSSIBLE TO BECOME A FRANCHISEE OF A MODERN MUSIC SCHOOL?
Doubts and worries before the leap into self-employment are normal – and even important. Because such a step has to be planned with caution and care. But anyone who is not prepared to take a risk is generally not well suited to set up a business. And if you are not interested in music, our franchise concept is not for you. The willingness to adapt to a given system, the ability to work in a team and leadership qualities are also indispensable. Furthermore, every franchisee should be aware of the fact that a company means a lot of work, especially in the start-up phase, and that you cannot do a nine-to-five job. Franchise partners of the Modern Music School have a diverse job, the opportunity to constantly develop themselves and their company and are their own boss. We have decades of experience with various franchise partners. We are happy to discuss your concerns, fears and worries, your qualifications, requirements, wishes and ideas with you in detail and tell you if we think it doesn’t fit. Because it is also important for us that your foundation and the growth of your own Modern Music School is promising!
